Describe yourself in five sentences or less
I'm a cisgender demisexual woman who is the co-creator of a fantasy comic called Namesake and other works with my BFF and creative partner. I work for a newspaper by day then writes a ton of fanfic, reads, and knits at night. I stole a bisexual Scouser from England and refuse to give him back, and we're being held hostage by two cats. Fandom is my escapism from reality, I have a mad, passionate affair with history, and I get twitchy if I'm not within three feet of a book. I love technology, hate our current government, and try to be as kind to others as I can (except if you are driving 10 mph in the left lane, then get out of my way.)

Top 5 fandoms
  • Gilmore Girls (my latest fandom crush, I have never shipped anything so fast in my life as I did Luke and Lorelai. It only took 30 seconds into the pilot)
  • Doctor Who (my old friend)
  • Babylon 5 (my true love)
  • Slayers (without it, I wouldn't be married or have a successful career as a writer)
  • J.D. Robb's In Death series (though I have yet to finish the latest book, I am ashamed of myself)

I mostly post about
When I am really active, it tends to be an even mix between real life and fandom. I also write a lot of fanfic when the muse is good. A lot of my journal is access only because I have to be careful about vocalizing my political views because of my job.

My last three posts were about
Getting my Dreamwidth updated, including importing the last of my old LJ entries and bringing over some of my Tumblr text posts to fill out the years between 2013-2017, gushing over the shippening of Luke and Lorelai in season 4 of Gilmore Girls, and some meta on "The Six Thatchers" episode of Sherlock.

How often do you post? What about commenting?
I'm pretty good at commenting, but when I am super busy, I do lurk. Same goes for posting. I only got away from this style of journaling because real life got super busy. Now I want to get back to it.

I highly recommend Echoes in Death. It's really a return to form - an excellent procedural that stands with the best of the series.

And you seem interesting. May I add you to my circle?

And I've granted you access in return. Will need to check out your webcomic, too.

Oooh! Slayers! And Babylon 5! I remember watching certain B5 episodes on grainy VHS tapes mailed to local fans from the UK and shared and copied by all of us who didn't want to wait for the episodes to finally air in the US.

I lean more toward old Who and am kind of spotty on more recent new Who. Seven was the Doctor of my heart, and I haven't been willing to give him up. I'm also... I can't deal with some of the violence and horror elements in new Who (my husband pre-screens a lot of it to tell me which episodes I should avoid).

My journal is currently about 80% venting about health related stuff, both mine and my daughter's (hers tends to be access locked), so I don't tend to recommend subscribing to me until things settle.

I write fic, some of it light/happy and some of it out and out darkfic. I've not written Slayers or B5 yet, but I've done two Doctor Who crossovers.

Oh, and my daughter is currently really, really heavily into The Gilmore Girls. I think she's on season four now. I've picked up some things by hearing the TV while I'm in another room.

I think she watched the recent Netflix revival season before going back to watch the original series, so I'm hoping she's prepared.

She did almost stop watching Reign when they broke up her favorite ship, though, and she and her friends use the term 'ship' very liberally. Today, she and a friend were talking about liking a 'broship' on the show they were watching. They're thirteen.

My history with Slayers started with frustration. I went to GenCon in, I think, 1988, and wandered through the area where they were showing anime while an early episode or two of Slayers were playing. I was fascinated, but I didn't know what the show was called or know anyone else who might know, so I wondered for at least a decade what happened after Zelgadis captured Lina.

I haven't tried any of the Doctor Who audios. Our budget for buying such things doesn't go very far right now, and the local library only has a handful of them. I should find out if our fifteen year old niece has looked at those. She fell hard for new Who (though she was dubious about Twelve because he was so very, very old compared to what she was used to. She fifteen now).

OK, so I've decided today to try and revive the slightly moribund [community profile] doctorwho comm, since it's new episode day and all. I notice that you have Doctor Who in your fandoms list. Care to join me?
