Desiree in real life but over on the tumblr I go by Sumi.

28 going on 29.

New York (not the city).

Other Accounts:
I have an ao3 and tumblr. On ao3 I'm Sumi and on tumblr sumilong.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less
I am a cisgendered autistic gay woman married with two cats. My likes include obsessing over fandom, kpop, and cats because... cats! One thing I love to do is write... which would explain my ao3 account.

Top 5 fandoms
My fandoms can change in an instant but there are a few that haven't changed. And mostly they are all video games.

1. Dragon Age
2. Mass Effect
3. Mass Effect Andromeda
4. I guess... kpop? I've written some fanfic for it so I suppose I can include it lol.
5. Horizon Zero Dawn

I mostly post about
Nothing so far. I used this journal as a place to put fic assignment letters but I want to get more into the habit of posting more.

My last three posts were about
Random shit for fic exchanges.

How often do you post? How about commenting?
Like I said I don't post often but I am going to try to get more into the habit of it. Commenting will be frequent since I am coming over from LJ and don't plan to use it that much anymore.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less:
I'm a tinkerer and a maker, and I'm active in my local hackerspace. I'm mostly cis, female (but not feminine), and happily living together with my male partner. I like cats and reading and motorcycles and tea, but not all at the same time. My weapon of choice is a Thinkpad that runs Linux Mint. And I love to travel: there aren't many countries on earth where I don't want to go.

Top 5 fandoms:
I'm not in fandom. Okay, I like Star Trek.

I mostly post about...
Me me me, it's all about me. My life, things I make (including food), things that amuse me or annoy me. My cats. Recipes. Household tips. Cybersecurity. Okay, that part is about you, or it should be.

I rarely (if at all) post about...
Media and sports. I don't watch television so I don't post about that at all.

My last three posts were about...
one of our cats, which toilet bowl and seat we're getting for the house we're building, and why I'd strongly recommend that everyone in the US start using a VPN.

How often do you post?
Sometimes several times a week, sometimes several times a month, and sometimes not even once in a month.

How about commenting?
I comment more than I post.

Other Accounts: I'm ~pluto @ ij, ~tinmiss @ tumblr, and ~wordflows @ ao3.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I'm a fairly nerdy girl who roleplays and makes icons in her spare time on dreamwidth (the icons can be found at [community profile] livebites)! I otherwise hold down a Job and spend time playing with my cat. Sometimes I go to a knitting club where I completely fail to get any better at knitting. I miss journaling like whoa.

Top 5 fandoms: Homestuck (I KNOW...), Percy Jackson, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Fairy Tail, and One Piece. Maybe??? This changes around a lot though I rarely leave fandoms once I'm in them! For the record I also read a Lot of books and do watch some LA television.

I mostly post about: NOTHING YET, as I haven't journaled on the regular since 2013 @ insanejournal! But I want to get back into it. I used to post like once a day about random rl anecdotes, rp shit, or memes!

My last three posts were about: I mean, nothing here. Glancing at IJ it seems like rl day account, rp meme, and talking about a game I was in at the time.

How often do you post? How about commenting? Following the trend of "nothing here" but when I journaled regularly I posted like once a day. I am usually pretty good about commenting! I like to get to know people and interact. I miss that!

I'm skipping the gif because I'm terrible at finding good ones tbh.

Name: Brian

Age: 34

Location: Chicago

Other Accounts: Also [livejournal.com profile] dorchadas. I have a joint Tumblr with my wife [personal profile] schoolpsychnerd at [tumblr.com profile] thesunandthestorm.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: Jewish man living in Chicago who immediately thinks "tabletop" whenever someone says the word "gamer." I kept an LJ, and now blog here, because I still like long-form writing about my thoughts at least somewhat for an audience. I often wish I was still back in Japan (where we lived for three years), especially when I can't get good Japanese food locally. Married, no children.

Top 5 fandoms: Hmmm...Exalted (the tabletop RPG)...and that's it in terms of real fandom devotion. I mean, I have interests, but I don't participate in the fandoms to the same extent. Unless curry or dark chocolate are fandoms? I love those. Emoji Kawaii frog photo croaking_frog_emoji_by_kaidahthedragon-dabw3kq.gif

I mostly post about: Computer games, tabletop RPGs (I have running Actual Plays for two games I'm in), food, Japan and the Japanese language, and occasionally about daily life. On rare occasions, politics.

My last three posts were about: A review of the game Owlboy, a translation of a tweet from NHK International on a comment by Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga, and a Game of Thrones-themed brunch at a Chicago restaurant.

How often do you post? How about commenting?: Once every two or three days, on average. I comment pretty frequently when there's something I have to say. photo emot-sun.gif

Describe yourself in five sentences or less
I'm a cisgender demisexual woman who is the co-creator of a fantasy comic called Namesake and other works with my BFF and creative partner. I work for a newspaper by day then writes a ton of fanfic, reads, and knits at night. I stole a bisexual Scouser from England and refuse to give him back, and we're being held hostage by two cats. Fandom is my escapism from reality, I have a mad, passionate affair with history, and I get twitchy if I'm not within three feet of a book. I love technology, hate our current government, and try to be as kind to others as I can (except if you are driving 10 mph in the left lane, then get out of my way.)

Top 5 fandoms
  • Gilmore Girls (my latest fandom crush, I have never shipped anything so fast in my life as I did Luke and Lorelai. It only took 30 seconds into the pilot)
  • Doctor Who (my old friend)
  • Babylon 5 (my true love)
  • Slayers (without it, I wouldn't be married or have a successful career as a writer)
  • J.D. Robb's In Death series (though I have yet to finish the latest book, I am ashamed of myself)

I mostly post about
When I am really active, it tends to be an even mix between real life and fandom. I also write a lot of fanfic when the muse is good. A lot of my journal is access only because I have to be careful about vocalizing my political views because of my job.

My last three posts were about
Getting my Dreamwidth updated, including importing the last of my old LJ entries and bringing over some of my Tumblr text posts to fill out the years between 2013-2017, gushing over the shippening of Luke and Lorelai in season 4 of Gilmore Girls, and some meta on "The Six Thatchers" episode of Sherlock.

How often do you post? What about commenting?
I'm pretty good at commenting, but when I am super busy, I do lurk. Same goes for posting. I only got away from this style of journaling because real life got super busy. Now I want to get back to it.

Other Accounts: LJ, tumblr. Also started up a Dreamwidth community, [community profile] howdareu, but it's flopping tbh.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I'm a 25 year old queer trans woman who's currently working part-time in a small town in Iowa, trying to find my place in the world, etc. I studied PR and journalism in college and have worked in nonprofit PR but I honestly don't know what I really want to do. I'm a huge fan of pop music and pop culture.

Top 5 fandoms:
I'm a Britney Spears stan. And I love Sex and the City but i'm not super involved in fandom tbh, outside of general pop culture stuff.

I mostly post about: idk yet I mostly used LJ for communities, but starting a new account with Dreamwidth has inspired me to get back into blogging. I'll probably post about my personal life. Personal essay type stuff, idk. lol.

My last three posts were about: I only have three posts, lol, and they're all just posts about like finding my way around Dreamwidth for the first time in forever, trying to find cool communities for general pop culture chat, etc. (I'm open to recs for cool communities to join, btw!!)

How often do you post? What about commenting? Probably will post a couple of times a month. But I comment all the time, esp in communities.

Top 5 fandoms:
The 100
Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter
The Dark is Rising

I mostly post about: Fandom, writing, what I've read lately, the cats, nature, geeky stuff.

My last three posts were about: Jumpstarting my DW/Finally leaving LJ, a 2016 roundup, and my latest book release.

How often do you post? What about commenting? Judging by the last few posts, about once every three months. But I want to change that. And I try to comment more frequently than I post.

Rhiannon in real life (or Ilana)

Other Accounts:

Describe yourself in five sentences or less
Straight cis woman (LGBTQ friendly), Welsh/British/Canadian married to a German man and living in Germany. I love reading, snail mail, art, walking, taking photos, flowers, tea, goth, 80s and world music, vegetarian food, anything purple, as you can tell by my icon, human and animal rights, travelling, languages...I'm definitely more on the left and am a trans inclusive feminist. (If that's what you call it, I'm not very good at the latest labels!) Am also a Reform/Liberal Jew, husband is a lapsed Catholic, we get on fine and I have friends of many faiths or none, that includes Pagans.

Top 5 fandoms
Not really a big fandom person. I like stuff like The Mighty Boosh, Russell Brand, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, bands like The Cure, Indochine, Matisyahu, Deine Lakaien, Squeeze, Olafur Arnalds, System of a Down, Boy George, etc. (So yeah fairly eclectic...) Books tend to be most often crime or biographies.

I mostly post about
Stuff from my life, photos of day trips or travels, etc.

My last three posts were about
I've been doing quite a long music meme so there were a couple of those and just life stuff.

How often do you post? How about commenting?
Pretty often, usually a couple of times a week at least and I try to comment when I have something to say about the post.
I'm going to skip the gif I'm afraid...

ossobuco: Legion from Mass Effect 2 (Default)
[personal profile] ossobuco
Name(s): Tracy, or Ossobuco, or (a)peacebone, depending on the platform
Age:: 30
Location: Western Washington, USA
Other accounts: Tumblr

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I'm a giant queer/agender/asexual nerd. I love eating food more than anything, but other things I like include video games, animals, and traveling. I work in production at a medium-sized video game studio, but outside of my job, I am pretty bad at being a human being. I put leftover pad thai in the microwave half an hour ago and just realized now that I forgot about it.

Top 5 Only fandoms: I'm not great at participating in fandom, but:
Overwatch, and Bioware games (specifically Dragon Age & Mass Effect). I've mostly fallen out of Bioware fandoms, but I'm listing it because it's most of the fanfic I've posted thus far.

I mostly post about my personal life and things I need to complain about. :P Also, fandom to a lesser extent. I'd like to talk more about, idk, the games industry or food, but I don't really know if I have anything interesting to say.

I rarely post about things that people other than me would care about?? It's such a grab bag but it's mostly a personal grab bag. I don't post much about politics (except for venting about them), though--I do a little more of that on my twitter and sometimes tumblr.

My last three posts were about pictures of Swamp Friends, various life updates since... last summer..., and Depression :/

How often do you post? I think I made like five posts in 2016. I'm intending to post about once a week with whatever interesting thoughts I can come up with.

How about commenting? I'm bad at it because I don't always know what to say, especially with new people, but I'll try!

hrj: (Default)
[personal profile] hrj

Name(s): hrj both here and previously on LJ; I’m pretty open about my full name since I write under it: Heather Rose Jones

Age: 58

Location: California, USA

Other accounts: twitter @heatherosejones, website alpennia.com

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I have the most fun day-job in the world which basically boils down to solving mysteries. I’m a massive history geek, although in recent years I’ve backed off on the re-creation activities. I have a Regency-era Ruritanian historic fantasy series onging with Bella Books and wish I could afford to write full time. And for all the rest, my journal is something of an open book.

Top 5 fandoms: I would have said that I don’t really have fandoms, but in the sense of obsessively tracking down media versions of a property, I guess I’d have to admit to Jane Austen. And maybe medieval Welsh literature, because the nearest thing I write to fanfic is based on the Mabinogi. Other than that, I don’t really have space in my life to be obsessed with anything other than my own writing, so let’s add Alpennia to the list.

I mostly post about: my writing and books, my annotated bibliography of lesbian history, my great-great-grandfather’s Civil War diaries, my reviews of anything that comes under my eyes, my garden, and various other projects

I rarely post about: anything I wouldn’t want the whole world to know

My last three posts were about: my current lesbian history blog topic (Robert Mills, Seeing Sodomy in the Middle Ages), Civil War correspondence of Abiel T. LaForge: October-December 1863, book review of Mizora: A Mss. Found Among the Private Papers of the Princess Vera Zarovitch (1890), by Mary E. Bradley. (I’m cheating a bit by omitting logistical posts concerning closing out my LJ and associated topics.)

How often do you post? I aim for five posts a week and probably manage that on average

How about commenting? Not as often as I’d like to. I regularly re-pledge to comment often, but life intervenes.

A GIF to describe how your day has been so far: Somehow I’ve never gotten into GIFs. There are entire technologies I somehow leapfrogged over, like CDs for music.

coeur_de_noir: (Dont Trust the B: Chloe Olive)
[personal profile] coeur_de_noir
Milla in life, coeur_de_noir everywhere else (which is here, because up-yer-bum LJ!)

I've been 42 since January. I was led to believe 42 was the answer to life, the universe, and everything, so I'm patiently awaiting the big reveal.

Melbourne, Australia

Describe yourself in five sentences or less
I love books, trees and my cat. I have the occasional all-consuming short-lived obsession which supplements the things I've loved that have stamped themselves on me, mostly books, music and sometimes telly shows. I laugh a lot, cry sometimes and get righteously angry about things when the occasion warrants. My job is intense but it's ultimately just paper pushing to make money for people that aren't very nice. I live with my partner on a big bit of land on the outskirts of nowhere and will bang on about birds every time one sits in the tree outside my window.

Top 5 fandoms
I don't really particpate in fandom anymore, but lately I've watched a lot of Suits, Parks & Rec, Supernatural, Penny Dreadful, Preacher and IZombie and I do talk about them while I'm watching if I have something to say ;-) My first and only fandom was The Mighty Boosh (and all the various offshoots), which is where I met my bestie and a lot of the people I still call my pals.

I mostly post about
Real life stuff - my job, how I'm feeling, what I'm excited by and what I'm doing, reading or watching.

My last three posts were about
Problem solving teacup dramas out loud; whether to abandon LJ or endure it's slings and arrows; holidays + volunteering stuff.

How often do you post? How about commenting?
I post about once a week and usually do a slew of comments at the same time. If you post a lot, I probably won't get to comment on every post.

[personal profile] dariaw
Name(s): Dariaw (daria234 on lj)

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: Here mostly for fandom-related stuff. I like everything but slash and ot3s are still my faves. Besides fannish stuff, I like books, music, art, watching tennis, traveling. I would describe my point of view as a little sarcastic, occasionally silly, and very curious about lots of things. I'm also definitely a feminist.
Top 5 fandoms: MCU, CW DC-verse (Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, LoT), Leverage, White Collar
I mostly post about Fanfic, episode reactions
I rarely post about personal stuff
My last three posts were about White Collar fanfic, Leverage fanfic, a meme
How often do you post? 1-2 times/week
How about commenting? Yes

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I am a librarian, and pretty much as nerdy as that implies. I have cats and unfinished novels galore. I have always lived in very, very small towns, but between books and an internet connection, I've never had the typical small town mindset. I'm just glad no one can hear the accent online.

Top 5 Fandoms: Hanson. Yes, that Hanson. I don't have any others that I really participate in very much, but I suppose I would say Nancy Drew, Doctor Who, Harry Potter and (currently) One Direction.

I mostly post about: Fic updates. Mostly new chapters, but sometimes more meta, or at least updates on my writing progress.

My last three posts were about: Two chapters of the Hanson fanfic I'm working on for Camp NaNoWriMo and a oneshot for a friend's birthday.

How often do you post? How about commenting? A few times a month. I had plans to post a lot more after switching my main homebase from LJ to DW back in December, but real life has a way of getting in the way of that. I'm lucky I find the time to write and post the aforementioned chapters. Maybe if more of my fandom moves over here (we've been some of the last LJ holdouts) or I find some other active friends here, I'll post more random/personal stuff. I am pretty bad about replying to comments on my fic updates, but I try to reply to other comments that are more open for discussion.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I am a healer (massage, reiki, medium). I enjoy nature (photography). I dig up dead relatives (genealogy). I am a lurker. I read fandom, self help books, laurell k. hamilton, patricia briggs, anne mccaffrey (to name a few).

Top 5 fandoms: currently: Harry Potter, NCIS, Hawaii 50 (reboot), Star Trek (reboot), the sentinel

I mostly post about: Life, daily oracle, random Instagram pics, observations of the world around me, contemplation of random topics.

I rarely post about rants, I try not too, but sometimes you just need to vent.

My last three posts were about: Payday Accomplishments, Daily Oracle, Relationships

How often do you post? To be honest, it depends on what's going on in my head and life, it could go from 2-4x/wk, to 1x/mo.

How about commenting?
Yes. Please, liking is awesome, but I would love input, opinions, etc.

Location: Boulder, Colorado, USA
Other Accounts: If you find an account named Flwyd, it's almost certainly me. I've been posting to Twitter lately

Describe yourself in five sentences or fewer:
By profession I am a software engineer. By archetype I am a wizard. By appearance I am a hippy. By population I am a statistical outlier. By ancestry I am human, all too human.

I mostly post about:
  • Essays about economics, science, politics, language, and other cerebral topics
  • Book reviews and quotes from books I'm reading
  • Letters I send to my elected representatives
  • Pun and other clever phrasings which spring to mind
  • Travelogs while vacationing, except most of my vacations lately have been festivals and I haven't had the energy to write up the experience while I'm busy with reality camp reentry
  • Major life events
  • Things I just did which might be of interest to a general audience, like making homebrew or posting an album of photos

How often do you post? How about commenting?
I started using LiveJournal in 2001 and made at least one post every month for fifteen years. In 2017 I've averaged 1–2 posts per week, which is higher than my post-college average.

Name: Allie

Age: 53

Location: Ontario, Canada

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: Okay. Canadian female, born and bred here, twice divorced, not in a relationship, have three grown children, none of whom live with me. I live with two cats and a roommate, at the moment I'm not working and instead am collecting disability benefits due to a winter plagued with the worst depression I've ever had; it was paralysing. I love books, cats, knitting, photography, spring, the ocean, travelling, and learning new things. I'm bisexual, I'm a faithful Christian but not intrusive about it, I watch Netflix far too much, and am terminally lazy about housework.

Top five fandoms: I'm not all that fangirly; never have been. I really love Doctor Who, Firefly, The Mentalist, Castle, Star Trek (OS, TNG, and the movies) and my crushes (if I can use that term at my age) are on Bill Nighy, David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Neil Patrick Harris.

My last three posts were about: Just boring updates about my rather boring life!

How often do you post? At the moment at least daily, that may change as the novelty of this site wears off!

How about commenting? I try to keep up at comment on everyone's posts. Sometimes I'm a few days late in doing so.

I mostly post about: Life stuff. My kids. My cats. Books. There will be book reviews.

I rarely post about: sports, fandoms, brussels sprouts.
