I am an aspiring writer, struggling with (undiagnosed) depression, anxiety and sleep deprivation. I’m pretty chill with mutuals I get to know and follow back, and at least three of them followed me here from LiveJournal in 2012, but I haven’t spoken to them in ages since they’re not really active on Dreamwidth or Tumblr (I suspect they’ve abandoned fandom life altogether and that’s understandable tbh). I’m a lurker primarily, so how much I participate in discussion or fandom depends on my level of enthusiasm (interest in the topic) and how much I can be arsed to comment on anything, so if you don’t get an immediate response, it’s nothing personal, it’s just me being me. How much time I spend on Dreamwidth ultimately depends on the level of fandom activity or how often my mutuals are online and willing to talk to me themselves.

Top 5 Fandoms:
I haven’t had a fandom I was proactive in in years tbh. But if you mean my current media interests then right now it’s (1): Smallville, (2): Train to Busan, (3): Star Wars (in a very fringe sense), (4): The Last Guardian, (5): Assorted Final Fantasy games (specifically XII, VIII, and XV).

My Dreamwidth is primarily used for personal posts. There is fandom content from my LiveJournal that was imported, and I still intend on using the blog for fanmixes and icons, but largely it has been used for personal comments I’d rather not have on tumblr.

I did create a Goodreads account a few years ago and have since completely ignored it. I was briefly on FB but hated it and deleted my account over 3 years ago. I have a separate wordpress blog that I use to write about parliamentary procedure and related matters. So that's it.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: Married to a younger man, Table Research Clerk for the provincial Assembly, two pet degus, like to cook, read, try to keep fit, love, love, love my job, find it sad that that what I do bores the pants of pretty much everyone else because parliamentary procedure is, quite frankly THE BEST thing on the planet. I am most likely one of those "elites" everyone keeps warning us about. Atheist, no kids, slightly aspergic, sarcastic and definitely an introvert.

Top 5 fandoms: I always thought "fandom" simply meant really liking a show, and then discovered it was a whole lot more than that. I don't do fandoms. I do have a number of TV shows that I really enjoy and will happily discuss, but, as a general rule, I don't do/read fanfic, make gifs, get all into the actors and all that sort of thing. Some of my current fave shows that I will happily discuss with others are: The Expanse, Outlander, Vikings, Black Sails, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Star Trek (all of them, even Enterprise), The Fall, Unforgotten, Silent Witness, The Last Kingdom, Designated Survivor and a bunch of others. I quite like TV, not much into movies.

That said, I guess I do have one real fandom -- parliamentary procedure. I totally fangirl over UK House of Commons Speaker John Bercow.

I mostly post about... Just the goings-on in my life -- work, personal, etc. I don't tend to discuss politics much because my job requires me to be totally neutral. I'd talk about TV shows more, but don't seem to have any current friends who share the same interests in that area. Would love to connect with other fans of any of the shows listed above. I am not exciting. You have been warned.

My last three posts were about... I did up a sticky post for how I plan to use my Dreamwidth journal - e.g. policies re: subscribing/granting access; the latest installment of the 30-day music challenge thing I'm doing this month; and a general post with a few bits and bobs of daily news. My husband and I are moving apartment at the start of May, so a lot of my posts for now have to do with moving-related matters.

How often do you post? How about commenting? Posting: I would say that I post at the very minimum of once a week. More often, I post daily, or at least every other day, and some days I may post more than once in a single day. Then occasionally, I won't post anything for 10 days or so. I'm a researcher, so my work means I do a lot of writing, and sometimes I just don't have the energy to post on LJ. The vast majority of my posts are access-only, so if you go over to check me out, you won't see much. However, I have started doing some public posts to track what books I read (I know that's what Goodreads is for, but I can't be arsed to use that site at all) and I am trying to think of other semi-regular things I could post publicly. Most of what I post gets cross-posted to LJ.

Commenting is a whole other kettle of fish. I read my friends' entries daily, and usually check in several times a day in the hopes that someone has posted something. However, I comment only if I have something to add. And when it comes to new people, I might go weeks, maybe months before I start commenting regularly because it takes me time to get a sense of you, understand the people in your life, what's going on, etc., especially if you have some complicated, long-running family or other dynamics happening. I'm like that in real life too -- I don't talk much unless I have something valuable to contribute, and prefer to listen when new people are around until I get a proper feel for them. I don't do small talk (as mentioned above, I'm on the ASD scale -- Aspergers). So while I may not say much, especially at first, please do know that I am reading everything you post.

Top 5 fandoms: Okay, I should mention that I don't POST much about these, although I do love reading/writing meta and fanfic about them. Harry Potter, Parks and Recreation, Buffy, Firefly, Mad Men, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Since DW seems a bit more fandom focused than LJ has been the past few years, I may do more fandom things here.

I mostly post about... Social commentary (trying to keep it fairly non-political, although I do get political at times), social media/fandom commentary, entertainment things, writing (or lack thereof!) and other musings. I post a bit about my personal life as well.

And before that was BtVS/AtS, Stargate SG-1, Due South, and X-Files, in reverse chronological order. I am Old School.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: Hollymath is a pun on my name and also on the word polymath, "a person of great and varied learning." I don't know about great, but my learning is certainly varied.

I'm a carer for my autistic husband and I volunteer with various projects helping blind people, immigrants, women and bisexuals (or LGBT+ people more generally but I'm always looking out for the bi people most of all). I am, perhaps not coincidentally, a bisexual immigrant woman and I'm what's called legally blind in the U.S. and registered blind in the UK.

I'll never be the writer young-me wanted so badly to be, but I'm working on a book about immigration in the UK, which I have Kickstarted to pay for the extortionate UK citizenship fees.

Top 5 fandoms: Space (and science generally, but especially space), linguistics, dogs, baseball, and Hamilton.

I mostly post about... Lots of politics lately, what with Trump and Brexit, but I try to keep it about constructive, positive things that might actually help. Ummm.... I'm an INTP who doesn't always fit the stereotype, and in other personality-typing systems, I'm an RLUEI  in the Global 5 system (meaning my dominant traits are reserved, limbic, unstructured, egocentric, and inquisitive) a 4w5 in the Enneagram system. I also have multiple health conditions that are a huge part of my life right now (not in a good way), so I think those are worth mentioning when it comes to who I am right now. I am disabled and currently live with my parents and three cats, and I probably won't be looking forward to moving out until we get a decent treatment plan figured out. My cats--and all other cats I've met to some degree--are really important to me, I love spending time around animals in general, and I've always had a thing for shocking concepts in art (especially music) and science. I also spend a lot of time playing games and have no clue what I'm going to do with my life--or tomorrow for that matter.

I'm not sure if any of these count as fandoms, but I'll list five things I've been into lately: MBTI/personality typing (if that's not obvious), music that's constantly changing (though I currently really like Joywave), dark art, psych/neurology stuff (especially "abnormal psych" if that's what it's called), traveling, etc. I don't think I've been too involved in Fandoms for most of my life. I'll get really into something (maybe a show or very specific artist) every now and then, but I usually analyze it on my own. Plus that kind of thing can be bad for my mental health for some odd reason.

Most (if not all) of my posts are about my life, and if I stick around on this site, they'll probably change a lot as my life changes. I made this journal primarily as a way to fight dissociation/memory loss; I do a lot of things I think I'd remember and don't remember them. So this is meant to be a log of what's going on in my life. Lately, it's been pretty centered on getting treatment for my health conditions--and my health in general--so that's something to expect. Because I'm trying to feel less zoned out and more involved in my brain and the world, I might try to write down thoughts about various things... most likely things that are related to my interests. Some entries might include some triggering subjects, but I try to put a warning on them (along with a reason or reasons for the warning). 

Posting and commenting:

How often I post will probably remain pretty inconsistant. To me honest, I haven't posted in a while, but I've been trying to keep up with others' entries. Commenting is also a problem for me: For no obvious reason, it can send me into or close to panic... or it can make me zone out even more--something that isn't helpful at all. Basically, I may not comment or respond to comments much, but it has nothing to do with you!!!

How often do you post? How about commenting?
I post fairly regularly. I read fairly regularly. I comment irregularly because of spoon and brain-weasel reasons. A lot of times they'll come late and in binges on old posts, unless I see some crosstalk that really catches my attention. I hope you all don't mind that. We have a pretty clear journaling culture post linked in our top post (which has a million important-ish links). I also write fiction/nonfiction/poetry, share art and occasionally do Oracle card draws on dreamwriters.

Name: Jenny. They used to call me Jenny Schmenny, but I moved and nobody knows that anymore.

Age: 46, but hella immature, soon to be 47, which I'm sure is hella old.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, formerly San Francisco for a long time, formerly a few other places, formally a mountain in the middle of nowhere in northern California - sans electricity, neighbors, or indoor toilet.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: My superpower is making people feel comfortable, accepted, and safe. It doesn't work on everyone, so it's a wackass superpower. Sometimes I also make people uncomfortable, whether because I'm sarcastic, crabby, critical, judgmental, weird, and/or weirdly intimate. I'm usually the funniest person in the room, but I'd rather be second funniest.

Top 5 fandoms: I'm not a fan.

I mostly post about: My excellent punk rock clown of a partner, my (mostly failed) efforts at polyamory, my shitty relationship with capitalism, my friendships, some snippets of borderline magical realism and miscellaneous bullshit.

My last few LJ posts were about: My multi-tiered garden spilling down the hill, feeling torn between supporting a friend in need and telling her to fuck off, the odds of the Rooskies being particularly interested in such things. There's some incredible stuff buried in my tags, mostly under 'fiction', but I quit being interesting quite a few years back.

How often do you post? How about commenting? Aw, maybe every week or two. When I'm there I try to stay engaged and comment, but it's difficult, whether because there are too many people posting too much interesting stuff, or because too many people are crappy writers.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: SDET by day at Big Fish Games, author and musician by night. I'm a hybrid author with a fantasy trilogy out via Carina Press, and the first two books of an urban fantasy series self-published. I'm also an amateur musician, very fond of Quebecois traditional music, and I play flutes, whistles, guitar, a tiny bit of bouzouki and mandolin, and a slowly increasing amount of fiddle (I'm taking lessons!).

Top 5 fandoms: Elfquest, The Dragonriders of Pern, and Star Wars, all of whom were fandoms for which I was active on MUSHes for years, and in the case of Pern, offline RP as well. Although I never RPed in the fandoms or wrote fanfic for them, my other two top ones would be the Tolkienverse and Star Trek.

I mostly post about: These days it's updates on my writing as well as periodic geeking out about taking fiddle lessons. I also semi-periodically post language geekery as I am doing extremely slow multi-lingual rereads of The Lord of the Rings as well as the first Harry Potter book.

My last three posts were about: Two about my ongoing work to migrate my LJ content over here, and one about a forthcoming surgery I'm having for my badly deviated septum (FUN!).

How about commenting?: I'm a more active commenter on social media, since my author presence is on Facebook and Twitter. But if I'm reading you on Dreamwidth, I WILL periodically try to answer your posts.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: Invisibly disabled poor queer poly writer and part-time casual-core gamer girl trapped in a Red State hell. Ok, it's not quite that bad - at least I've got my wifey and our three cats. We're holding it together so far at least, and these days that's just going to have to be good enough.

Top 5 7 Fandoms: Visual Kei. Harry Potter. GetBackers. Stargate (SG-1&Atlantis). Yarn (shh, totally counts). Doctor Who. Transformers (G1).

I mostly post about: Currently, the most common topic is progress and woes related to the house me and wifey just moved into late last month. Also regular references to my writing (mis)adventures. And our three cats and their tendencies to fail at catting and/or be rude/adorable little assholes/cuddlebuckets.

My last few LJ posts were about: The level of random detritus left in the two other major areas of the house, fic/Patreon updates, yesterday's severe thunderstorms/tornadoes, The Death of LJ and nostalgia for the jrock fandom of the past.

How often do you post? How about commenting? I am currently on a thing where I'm trying to post every day. It ... hasn't managed to go for more than a couple weeks before something happens to disrupt my flow. I'm pretty good at reading, but I am admittedly completely balls at commenting. I blame my modest social anxiety issues.

My journal is almost entirely access-locked because I'm actually pretty private (and have (semi-ancient) history of stalkers), but I could use some more friends. Who knows, I might even talk about more than just asshats and people who should be fired out of cannons. (Not to be confused with canons).
