Describe yourself in five sentences or less:
I have an undergraduate degree in English Lit and a Masters in History. I'm apparently the sort of person who describes myself using my academic achievements... I love my small urban garden, growing vegetables and cooking with them. I am a novice archer, having taken up the sport in January this year. I would like more Dreamwidth friends. :)
Top 5 Fandoms:
Star Wars
Star Trek
Point and Click Adventure Games
Gardening
Stand-up comedy
I mostly post about:
My life and stuff that inspires/excites me.
My last three posts were about:
Random stuff about my day and deleting my LJ.
How often do you post? How about commenting?
My Dreamwidth journal is very new - I didn't import any LJ stuff over because I have decided to start afresh. So, I haven't made many entries yet, but I'm going to try and post at least once a week, if not more.

Date: 2017-04-15 09:13 am (UTC)The Whispered World was enjoyable except for the protagonist - that whiny kid was easily one of the most annoying characters ever! Though I had played it a long time ago, and can't remember all the gory details - only that he has a talent to turn any innocuous item description into a depression-fest. (Hell, I know how to do that myself - I play games to escape from being me ;)
Haven't played Broken Age yet, have you? It's on my wishlist, but I'm wary of tedious repetitive gameplay mentioned in the reviews. Over years I got spoiled with easy streamlined games, and I no longer have patience (or time...) for beating my head against the wall. Of course, there are always walkthroughs, but it's not a lot of fun when you can't make any progress without looking for hints...
I had played another Tim Schafer's game - "Psychonauts", which is technically a 3D platformer, but it's reasonably easy even with my lousy reflexes which force me to stick with point&click. Psychonauts is an awesome game - so wacky and funny, with great attention to details. If you don't mind some platforming, you should give it a try.
Oh and I forgot another of my favourite P&C games: the hilarious series about Ben & Dan ("Ben There, Dan That", and "Time Gentlemen, Please"). These are indie games with (intentionally?) horrible primitive graphics, which discouraged me at first, but brilliant writing makes up for that. This is one of the rarer games where I actually enjoyed using everything on everything, because of the funny messages, unique for each object combination.

I've tried Ben & Dan, but didn't get very far with it before I lost interest, but maybe I need to try again.
I'd recommend 1954 Alcatraz from Daedalic if you haven't played that. It's a fun 'escape from Alcatraz' game with multiple possible endings. I quite recently played Shardlight (Wadjet Eye) which is really good if you like post-apocalyptic type games. Oh, and I also recently played Broken Sword 5, which had a very absorbing storyline and was pretty much as good as Broken Swords 1&2, in my opinion. :)

Date: 2017-04-15 04:14 pm (UTC)Oh right, I haven't played Shardlight yet! Dystopia/post-apocalyptic is one of my favourite genres. (Just recently played Dead Synchronicity - yet another great post-apocalyptic Daedalic game, except for the weird art style and ending on a cliffhanger.) But I usually wait till the price drops. With my backlog of games, already owned but never played / not finished / games I intend to replay but never get around to, it's only reasonable... (I have an eye on Thimbleweed Park by Ron Gilbert, but this one can also wait.)

Date: 2017-04-16 09:19 am (UTC)Yeah, I agree about George Stobbart - he is very conceited and on a couple of occasions comes across as a bit sexist.
