It's all about friendships for me.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less:
There are no five sentences that will encapsulate me; I am a complex soul of simple desires. This means my everyday life is a bit...everyday; I'm a SAHM, happily married, active in my local Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, invested in my online circle of friends, taking a generally supportive and advisory role in my relationships, but with clearly and firmly defined boundaries. My intellectual and emotional lives are deep and well developed, revisited as necessary; much of the process is visible in my archive. I am smart, practical, and kind, with a tendency to talk your ear off. I believe that the meaning of life (apart from 42) is to love and be loved, and that I can cheat with sentence limits by making liberal use of semi-colons and commas. :P
Top 5 Fandoms:
I am a story addict. I have a lot of stories I love, from Star Trek and Doctor Who to Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot. I maintain that one of the most unique and special things about humans is our way of sharing stories and letting them touch and shape our lives. But I don't do a lot of talking about the stories specifically unless someone is watching/reading them with me or references are appropriate to a point I'm making.
I mostly post about:
My everyday life, which is mostly raising my kids and being part of my local community, intermixed with more abstract contemplations on a variety of topics. Important to know: I am liberal/progressive in both my politics and my ethics; I believe in cooperation over competition, the importance of community in balance with respect for individuality and personal freedom. My spirituality is essentially a sort of pantheism with some pagan elements. I created my own bird oracle cards and read them for people (see
wrenstarling, although I am in the process of setting up a Patreon instead of using that journal). I tend toward "oversharing" and I don't have a problem with that. I have anxiety and depression, which I usually manage quite well, largely on my own. I am in less than desirable physical health and vary between doing what I can to improve it and giving up. (This does NOT mean "I am fat and I diet on and off". I am fat and I believe you can be fat and healthy. I'm just not as healthy as I'd like to be, some of which I have control over and some of which I don't, thus the variance.) I'm bisexual, cisgender, poly-friendly, kink-friendly. I try to balance "being the change" with living the life I want. I believe in continuous growth.
Family: My spouse and children are the center of my world, my literal reason for living. I have several pets; two dogs and three cats currently. We just rehomed our turtle (named Kermit, best pet naming I ever did) of 20 years with some friends. I have a fairly significant amount of chosen family scattered all over the place thanks to the internet. I had a generally good, loving relationship with my parents. My mom is still alive and lives with my sister, who I do not like at all, but get along with for the sake of my mom. My dad died tragically a month before my oldest child was born.
My last three posts were about:
Parenting adventures, Admin about LJ/DW, and more parenting adventures. My youngest has been being a handful for a while and he is currently dominating my journal as a result. There's also post about The List, a list I've worked on and revisited with my circle of friends since I was pregnant with my oldest, designed to represent those crucial qualities that the striving for and mastering of makes a good person. I think we've finally got it done, just in time for my kids to be old enough to really appreciate it.
How often do you post? How about commenting?
I post at least weekly, usually 2 or three times a week. Sometimes more often, sometimes less. I comment pretty frequently, although I can take a while to get started as I'm getting to know you. I expect you to comment pretty frequently as well and to reply to my comments as appropriate; a relationship requires interaction, more than just reading each other's pages, and the people who read my journal are my friends and I am theirs or we go our separate ways, not everyone connects, no hard feelings.
A GIF to describe how your day has been so far:
I am lazy about embedding things in posts. :P I'm just at the start of my day, so there's not much to say about it anyway! Also, I have now spent way too long on this and need to get moving!

Date: 2017-04-14 11:27 pm (UTC)I'm an empty-nester and I work from home. I'm also liberal/progressive and entirely pagan... so I thought we might have some cross-over interests. My journal is primarily my daily life stuff with some reflections on the world at large. I've been a little depressed the last few months just because of our "exciting" current political climate, but I'm sorting through it as best as I can.
If you're interested in a mutual add, just let me know. Thanks!
