divinemusings: (pikachu)
[personal profile] divinemusings
Name: Cloud
Age: 30s
Location: mini-soda, USA
Other: I'm kind of around everywhere, so if you want to connect elsewhere, just ask!

Describe yourself in five sentences or less:
- I'm introverted to the point where I'm introverted online too - always watching, just easily tired.
- But I could also be really tired because I have two kids who are wild and suck out all of my energy.
- I play a lot of video games and have just about every system in the house. Other hobbies include reading, napping, and binge watching TV.
- I'm a mom and writer. Those are my main two jobs at the moment.
- I'm pretty laid back. I go on the occasional rant and all, but that's mostly to just keep my "in person" self even and relaxed if that makes sense?

Top 5 Fandoms:
Current fandoms are always changing for me, but right now it's...

- Chicago Franchise: Just started getting into this. It's my current jam while all my other shows are on hiatus.
- Game of Thrones: I do watch this and get very emotionally invested in it.
- Animorphs: I will always love this fandom.
- Final Fantasy: Same with this. I've played all the games that don't involve an online payment fee.
- My original fiction universes. I can fandom with those right?

Some others: Big Time Rush, Degrassi, Pokemon, Persona, Kingdom Hearts, Scandal, Disney, and so many more.

I mostly post about:

Most of it is slice of life stuff. What I'm doing, what personal issues I might be having, what I'm working on with my writing. I post a lot about writing and the struggle with the creative process. Some days, I just write: I made it through the day. I'm still here. It just kind of depends on how I'm feeling, I guess. The occasional rant.

I try not to post about:

I haven't found anything that I won't post about, though I tend to not write about politics. Not because they aren't important to me, but because I just don't.

My last three posts were about:

1. What I'm reading/playing
2. Attempting to motivate myself to do things for the day.
3. Health/weight related things (these are always cut).

How often do you post? How about commenting?

Post? Daily. Sometimes multiple times a day, but try to keep it reasonable.

Comment, I comment when I have things to say, but I try to leave one at least fairly often. I don't like feeling forced to comment and I don't do that to other people. If you like to lurk, that's totally fine.

[personal profile] endeni
Name: Simona
Age: 31
Location: Italy

AO3: endeniPinboard: endeniem  /  Tumblr: endeni  /  Twitter: endeniem

Describe yourself in five sentences or less:
- Atheist, Feminist
- I love fantasy and sci-fi
- fangirl: my fandom thing is making fanart (mostly digital) and writing fic
- very obsessive bookmarker, all my favorite fanworks are collected on my pinboard page, I also occasionally post rec lists on my journal ;)

Top 5 Fandoms:
Well, I'm ridiculously multi-fannish but if I really have to limit myself to just five I'd say...
- Star Wars
- Shadowhunters - I know... :D
- Marvel
- Buffyverse
- Trekverse.
BTW, I do have a (more or less comprehensive and up-to-date) list of my favorite fandoms/characters/ships in case you want to check if we have other fannish interests in common (we probably do LOL).

I mostly post about:
It's mostly fannish stuff, with some RL stuff here and there which is Access List only.

My last three posts were about:
Fic, some RL update and some LJ rumblings.

How often do you post? How about commenting?
Well, I post whenever I have time and something to post about LOL so it may vary?
Used to be I commented daily but I seem to have much less free time on my hands these days. Still, I love interacting with people and often just leaving a comment is less time-consuming than writing a whole post of my own. ;)

*Edited to fix the broken links and broken gif. Also, I totally forgot to add Supergirl on my fandoms list. Boy, I love that show! I guess that makes it a Top *6* Fandoms list? Ooops? :D

owlmoose: a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge, shrouded by fog (golden gate bridge)
[personal profile] owlmoose
Name(s): KJ. I can also be found at [twitter.com profile] iamkj, [tumblr.com profile] lifeofkj, and [archiveofourown.org profile] owlmoose. My LJ was a mirror of my DW (same username), but I stopped crossposting yesterday.
Location: San Francisco, CA
Describe yourself in five sentences or less: Underemployed librarian who has been in fandom for over a decade now. I write fanfic, meta, and increasingly about politics (of the progressive variety; I identify as a liberal feminist Democrat who is working on intersectionality). I love the community of fandom but have not been participating as much as I would like lately, so I'm always looking for ways back in. Since last year, I've been a contributor to the group blog [community profile] ladybusiness.
Top 5 fandoms: Dragon Age, Marvel Cinematic Universe (movies and TV), Critical Role, Final Fantasy X/X-2, Final Fantasy XII.
I mostly post about: US political situation, fandom meta, fanfiction, media reviews, general life stuff.
I rarely post about: It's a mixed enough bag here that I have a hard time saying there's anything that's off limits. I don't talk about my dayjob much.
My last three posts were about: Pictures from a trip to the East Coast, the LJ situation, and the Hugo Awards.
How often do you post? I try to post two to three times a week; sometimes it ends up being less than that.
How about commenting? On a semi-regular basis. I want to get better about this, too.

nounsandverbs: (Default)
[personal profile] nounsandverbs
Name: Nounsandverbs
Age: 42. (I'm the answer to life, the universe, and everything.)
Location: The NYC exurbs

Describe yourself in five sentences or less:
Straight cis polyamorous man living in a created family in the 'zurbs of NYC. (There are about a dozen of us, adults and kids.) By day I make my living as ... well, nothing, at the moment, but I hope to be back to being a Media Professional of some sort soon. By night I'm a musician, writer, SCAdian, lover of good scotch, and I'm also trying to get healthy.

Top 5 fandoms:
Not sure "fandoms" applies to me. I like stuff. I like the Beatles, Monty Python, sci-fi, Broadway musicals, and quoting obscure bits of standup comedy which no one else gets but me. I'm also a shameless movie buff. I read the credits.

I mostly post about...
These days? The job search, which I think of as Navigation. (Compasses and maritime metaphors figure heavily in my worldview.) I also post about my family, and my four romantic partners, and whatever random shit strikes my fancy.

I rarely post about...
I try very very very hard not to post about the news or politics here -- mostly because that was the career I've just been fired from, and I hope to put it behind me.

My last three posts were about...
The job search, and finally moving here from LJ after a few years straddling the two sites.

How often do you post?
More often than I used to! One of the great things about being unemployed? I have time to write, think, and journal -- and that's been a nice lifeline during a stressful time. (Another great thing about unemployment is, you can just decide, in the course of any given day, that you're done wearing pants.)

How about commenting?
I lurk a lot, but I comment when I feel I have something to say.
elrhiarhodan: (All My Toes)
[personal profile] elrhiarhodan
Name(s): [personal profile] elrhiarhodan, and I'm [archiveofourown.org profile] elrhiarhodan and [tumblr.com profile] elrhiarhodan. No point in mentioning my LJ presence because that's going dark soon.

Location: New York

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I'm a firmly middle-aged cis woman who is more monofannish than is healthy. I write slash so exclusively that it's very weird to write either gen or het. My doctor says I need to exercise. He doesn't understand that I have words to write. My closest friendships come out out of fandom and I'm very proud of that.

Top 5 fandoms: The Flash, White Collar

I mostly post about On DW, mostly personal rambles and crossposts of fanfic. The Flash doesn't really have a fannish presence here. Fannish stuff goes on tumblr these days.

I rarely post about Really personal details. Stuff that should not be for public consumption.

My last three posts were about Triumph over technology, the weather, and my new electric pressure cooker.

How often do you post? Much less than I used to – want to get back into the habit.
How about commenting? Rarely. Need to get back into the habit.

makamu: (Default)
[personal profile] makamu
Name: Makamu or Tessy
Age: I am in my late twenties
Location: Germany
Other Accounts: I have an account on the AO3, but no recent fic on there. I also have a Tumblr account, so if you want to connect, just ask. Though I want to shift my centre of fannishness away from there again...

Describe yourself in five sentences or less :

I am a nice geek with a huge interest in history and literature, who is currently also persuing a Phd in English literature. I am a multi-fandom person now (during my first stint on LJ/DW, I was very focused on the Tolkien fandom). I like all variants of fic, though I am partial to long fics in particular. I also don't mind meta (though I see it as a debate, rather than an attempt at conversiion) and can get very involved in analysing things I like. Also, I can get very nerdy about research, and this tends to bog down my writing somewhat.

Top 5 fandoms

Okay, I tried to break it down to five, but I am in no way limited to those

- Middle Earth (I have read the Silmarillion and all of the History of Middle-Earth, love the LOTR films, but am lukewarm on the Hobbit films)

- Inglourios Basterds/ Django Unchained (I am currently hugely invested in researching a number of AUs that broaden and shift the alternative history of the films)

- Harry Potter (I love the older generation and going deeper into Wizarding history)

- English Literature (especially the Brontes and Jane Austen, A.S. Byatt and of course good ol' Will's work *g*)

- Dr Who (I have no favourite Doctor and no particular ship)

Other fandoms include: House M.D., Netflix Marvel, LOTR RPS

I mostly post about:

I plan on mostly posting fic, meta or about fiction writing. Occasionally, I may post about my research or Phd related geekery. Additional book, film, or music reviews may also crop up.

I try not to post about:

Real Life, except obliquely. If and when I post about politics, I will try to keep the discussion neutral and polite.

How often do you post? What about commenting?

I am trying to re-establish a regular commenting routine again, but I have a writing-intensive life, so it could be that I only post twice a month.

As for commenting, I am currently making a point of going over my reading list every day and commenting to establish and maintain contact.

Name: subbes
Age: thirty-mumble
Location: SF Bay Area
Other: Twitter, Tumblr and LJ by the same name.

Me, in five sentences or less:
Someone once told me I was smart and I've never gotten over it. I have a habit of not taking things as seriously as I should, but at this point we're so deep into the dystopian hellscape that it's become a legitimately good coping strategy. I enjoy dirtbag leftism as a defense mechanism, driving 69mph with the top down, intersectional revolutionary organizing, lime popsicles, and cats. My paycheck comes from the government. Obligatory list of labels: leftist, queer, cis lady-type, dual US/UK citizen, socialist feminist, attention deficit, IWW member, fully automated luxury queer space communism fan, antifa flag waver, Bernie would have won, the internet makes you stupid, not actually as insufferable as this makes me sound.

Fandoms: Eating the rich?

I mostly post about:
My daily life and activities. Currently that's rather heavy on the local activism and politics, including Democratic Socialists of America chapter business, but maybe other interesting things will happen to me and I'll write about them!

I try not to post about: Quizzes and spooks.

My last three posts were about:
Local plans to tell the alt-right to bugger off via culinary implement-created noise; culinary adventures in cheese and corn; Socialist organizing and socializing that included culinary adventures in pineapple on pizza debate and the expropriation of an ice cream pizza; an IWW meeting that included zero culinary adventures.

How often do you post? How about commenting?
I post once or twice a week. I comment when I feel like I have something to say, but I also try to reply to comments people leave for me.

downtheadders: (Default)
[personal profile] downtheadders

Name(s): [personal profile] downtheadders  Was previously changeofthemoon on LJ

Location: Great Lakes area of the US

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I'm a full time academic who teaches and does research. I'm married and we have a little cat who we spoil all the time. I've been vegan (beegan, whatever, I eat honey) for a decade and I try live a compassionate life. I spend most of my time working, reading, watching bad movies, getting lost on the internet, and trying to keep up with meditation. I'm really into midcentury modern design and I'm always working on my eyeliner skills.

Top 5 fandoms: I don't really do fandom and I'm not into writing or reading fanfic. But I do care passionately about Harry Potter, Star Trek, Buffy, and LOTR.

I mostly post about: My life, work, family, music, random thoughts about life, making sense of faith. I'm fairly private and keep everything locked, but once I've decided someone is cool enough to add, I share a lot in my journal.

I rarely post about: I don't post much about politics or fan stuff

My last three posts were about: signing up to volunteer for something and thoughts about Easter, feelings about some movies and angst about teaching, and some thoughts about Jim Jones from an NPR segment I heard the other day.

How often do you post? Several times per week.

How about commenting? I try to comment when I have something to say or when someone shares something that obviously means a lot to them.

madamemermaid: (Default)
[personal profile] madamemermaid
Name(s): Sarah, Madame Mermaid, Rosemary Mint (though that was on LJ)

Location: Jersey (the one near NYC, not the island in the English Channel.)

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I'm a few weeks away from finishing graduate school and I'll soon be two-fisting diplomas. When I'm not freaking out about getting a job in the nerdy world where I am trained (the end of the world is my day job!) I'm swimming, gardening on my balcony, or curling up with the cat. Queer fat femme, size positive, super sporty, but also pretty damn femme.

Top 5 fandoms: I don't do fandom.

I mostly post about My general life and stuff going on, interpersonal relationship stuff, work stuff, solving problems.

I rarely post about The minutia of life

My last three posts were about dissecting a job interview, a recap of a weekend adventure, a brain dump on some emotional stuff related to politics and career

How often do you post? Maybe once a week? Sometimes once a month? Depends. I'm not a heavy poster these days

How about commenting? I like to comment, but only if I feel like you want to receive comments and engage in conversation.

kallah: (Default)
[personal profile] kallah
Name: [personal profile] kallah, same over on LJ.

Middle-aged woman probably hitting midlife crisis and fairly constant financial issues.

Top 5 fandoms: Not so much with fandom these days. Currently semi-active in Resident Evil, still playing Anno 2070, reading IDW Ghostbusters (in TPB, so well behind). Mostly trying to work on original fiction.

Most of my recent posts have been RL-related, trying to get back to slightly less boring things.

Haven't read or commented much on DW lately, trying to fix that.

Currently reading Christine Hallett's Veiled Warriors, about women nurses in WWI. Have Imbecile, about the Carrie Buck case, and Stranger Magic, Maria Tatar's work on the Arabian Nights, out from the library.
